In 1997, Mother and U.S. Veteran Laurie Irwin launched Embroidery Creations with a single-head embroidery machine in the Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham, Washington. A year later, her daughter Kimberlee began helping with the business after school.

Thanks to hard work and loyal customers, they expanded with more machines and vinyl heat transfer capabilities into a 2000 square foot storefront. Sports teams who came in for printed uniforms started requesting letterman's jackets. Embroidery Creations began customizing varsity jackets in 2002. 

Laurie and Kimberlee moved Embroidery Creations to its current location Ferndale in 2004. Kimberlee got married and had three children who have grown up around the shop like she did. After working together for 21 years, Laurie retired, and Kimberlee purchased the business.
